Dr Boyd has an advanced background in clinical medicine and a PhD in philosophy. His thesis covered interrelationships among technology, human development, and evolution. He has worked as a research fellow and lecturer at the University of Auckland, with a focus on patient safety, teamwork, human factors, and clinical education. He has also worked with a public health modeling team and on health technology assessment projects.
Dr Boyd has authored 23 articles published in peer-reviewed journals in the fields of philosophy, education, psychology, nursing, medicine, and public health.
Dr Boyd is an active peer reviewer for more than 10 international journals, including: Journal of Advanced Nursing, Biology and Philosophy, BMJ Simulation and Technology, Pediatric Anesthesia, BMC Medical Education, Postgraduate Medical Journal, and The American Journal of the Medical Sciences. Dr Boyd joined Edanz Group as a research consultant in 2017.
Medical Writing Experience
Dr Boyd has completed a number of large-scale medical writing assignments including an evidence update to “Ten Topics in Reducing Harm from Falls,” for the New Zealand Health Quality and Safety Commission, writing a full health technology assessment for the New Zealand Ministry of Health, and contributing to the development of pharmaceutical dossiers for application to regulatory bodies.
Dr Boyd has edited a range of scientific papers for submission to peer-reviewed journals. He has also edited professional development materials for the New Zealand Health Quality and Safety Commission.
